Visit
the U.S. Pacific Fleet Commander On
December 18th, Consul General Kamo visited the U.S. Pacific Fleet
to meet Admiral Patrick Walsh, Commander of U.S. Pacific Fleet.
The meeting took place in the Commander’s office and lasted
approximately 30 minutes. This
office was also used by Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz during World War II.
The U.S. Pacific Fleet Commander has been one of the most important
U.S. military persons for Japan. The
U.S. 7th Fleet, which is based in Yokosuka, Japan, is also led by
the U.S. Pacific Fleet. Commander
Walsh, who was appointed in September 2009, told the Consul General that the
U.S.-Japan relationship will continuous to be a significant one in the
future.
