Honolulu
Century Ride The
28th Honolulu Century Ride was held on September 27th,
2009. The
main organizer of this event, the Hawaii Bicycling League (HBL), promotes
cycling for health, recreation, and transportation through advocacy,
education, and events.
Upholding the concept of ‘Share the Road’, Honolulu Century Ride
has been one of the activities of the HBL.
Every year, on the last Sunday of September, a large number of
bicycle lovers from inside and outside of Hawaii participate in this race.
This year, there were more than 1,000 participants from Japan.
The
main feature of the race is that the participants can choose different
distances, from 25 miles to 100 miles, so that each person can ride with
their own pace, while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Northeastern
shorelines of Oahu. One of the regular annual participants was Lieutenant Governor Aiona. At the starting line in the Kapiolani Park, Consul General Kamo conveyed a message and greeted the participants.
