Celebration
of the Birthday of King David Kalakaua On November 16th, the celebration of the birthday of King David Kalakaua which was held at the Iolani Palace, was hosted by the Freemason and the United Japanese Society of Hawaii. Mrs. Jean Ariyoshi, a wife of former Governor of Hawaii, George Ariyoshi, and three others received the “Pillars of Hawaii” award. King Kalakaua, also known as a member of the Freemason, promoted Hawaiian culture and tried to introduce immigration from Japan into Hawaii. Consul General Kamo attended the celebration event where he offered his congratulations to the awardees and honored the achievement of Mrs. Ariyoshi.
