 Screening of Japanese Movies

Related to the Reconstruction Efforts

 

 The Consulate-General of Japan at Honolulu, in cooperation with Hawai’i Japanese Center, Hilo will show the following two movies (free admission), which are closely related to Japan’s disaster and reconstruction efforts.

 

 

 1. “WANKO~The Story of Me, My Family and My Dog”

   Date: Saturday, June 23, 2012, 10:00am~ [123 min]

    Venue: Hawai’i Japanese Center, Hilo

 

                         Contents:  In August 2000, a devastating volcanic eruption ravaged the island of Miyakejima. This is a story of friendship and the indelible bond between 
                       a dog (wanko in Japanese), a boy and his family. A miraculous story based on true events of a family torn apart by an unimaginable natural disaster. 
                            (A story film directed by Isamu Nakae)

 

 

 2.  “FUKUSHIMA HULA GIRLS”

Date: Saturday, June 23, 2012, 2:00pm~ [100 min]

Venue:  Hawai’i Japanese Center, Hilo

 

                            Contents: Documentary movie featuring the hula dancers of the “Spa Resort Hawaiian” in Iwaki city, Fukushima prefecture, struggling to re-open the
