Remarks by C.G. Yoshi Kamo at
Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki for “Lokomaika’i for Japan” May
27, 2011 Who could enjoy speaking
after Willie K? Good Evening! I think everybody here is
having a very good time with great music, food and company. I don’t want
to spoil your evening in any way. So my remarks should be very brief. I am
here to say just two things. One is to thank the people of Hawaii. The other
is to say thank you to Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki. My hearty appreciation goes
to the people of Hawaii who showed extraordinary generosity and good will to
support Japan in raising funds for relief and recover. The “Aloha for
Japan” fundraiser is incredible and most successful in raising more than 6
million dollars as of now. It is still going strong, but the new emphasis
has been placed on promoting human exchanges. Today’s event is yet another
attempt to ameliorate the hardship that the stricken people in Japan have
been through by raising funds to be sent to them through the Aloha for
Japan. Prince Hotel is organizing this event for the benefit of all of us. In Japan, Prince is synonymous with the first class hospitality industry. Prince belongs to Seibu Railway Company, Japan’s leading conglomerate which has wide range of business in transportation, real estate, retailing, and many more. Prince is also a big name in Hawaii in hotel business. Apart from Waikiki, they have two hotel business operations in the Big Island. I just want to remind you that they at Prince are doing very well in promoting their business in Hawaii. We at the Japanese
Consulate are a proud and loyal customer of Hawaii Prince. Whenever we
receive our VIP guests, we choose Prince for their home in Honolulu. We are
going to have the APEC Leaders Week here in Honolulu in November this year.
I have to tell you that we have asked Prince for accommodating the Japanese
delegation during the APEC week. We thank you, Prince, for your service and
hospitality. So you should be happy
because I will not speak any more.
