Visit
to UCC Coffee Farm On
June 6, 2010, Consul General and Mrs. Kamo visited the UCC Coffee Farm in
Kona, Hawaii. The coffee farm is located in the highlands of Kona. The cool
weather, which is unusual for a tropical island is suitable for growing high
quality coffee. The coffee beans are carefully hand-picked at the height of
its maturity which is said to be the secret to the rich flavor of the
coffee. With the painstaking work by the farmers, including Japanese
American farmers, Kona coffee has achieved the status of being one of the
finest coffees in the world along with Jamaican Blue Mountain and African
Kilimanjaro.
