Award Presentation Ceremony for the 2016 Monbukagakusho Specialized Training College Students Scholarships
The Consulate General of Japan held an Award Presentation Ceremony for the 2016 Monbukagakusho (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science & Technology) Specialized Training College Students (Senshū Gakkō Ryūgakusei) Scholarships on March 17. This year, one recipient from Hawaii, Ms. Chiaki Jones, was selected to study in the field of animation in Japan. Ms. Jones is the only student from the United States to receive this prestigious three year scholarship.

- Ms. Chiaki Misae Jones, a graduate of Leeward Community College, will first study Japanese language at the Osaka Japanese Language Education Center for one year from April 2016 through March 2017. After completion of her language studies, Ms. Jones will attend Kyoto Computer Gakuin for two years from April 2017 through March 2019 to pursue her studies in the field of animation.
