Consul General’s Commendation Conferred to Dr. Mitsuru Misawa, Professor of Finance at U.H.
On April 12, a ceremony was held at the Official Residence to confer the Consul General’s Commendation on Dr. Mitsuru Misawa, Professor of Finance at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Shidler College of Business. The conferment ceremony honored the remarkable achievements of the professor and his many years of contribution to mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and the U.S. through the field of education. After a congratulatory address by Consul General Misawa, the professor was presented with the commendation certificate in front of an audience of his beloved family and coworkers.
About Dr. Mitsuru Misawa, Professor of Finance at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Shidler College of Business
Dr. Misawa was born in Ina, Nagano in 1936. After graduating from the University of Tokyo Law School in 1960, he became a banker with the Industrial Bank of Japan, now known as Mizuho Corporate Bank. Dr. Misawa joined the faculty of the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Shidler College of Business in 1996, and has taught seminars on International Finance and the Japanese Economy for 20 years to over 4000 students.
From 2002, Dr. Misawa has also served as a Furusato Taishi (Hometown Ambassador) for Ina, Nagano. Even while teaching at the University of Hawaii, he has continued to contribute to the development of his hometown.
