Community Day at Queen Ka'ahumanu Elementary School

On April 14, staff members of the Consulate attended “Community Day” at Queen Ka'ahumanu Elementary School. Queen Ka'ahumanu “Community Day” is supported by volunteers from many offices and organization in the local community, including the Governor’s Office, the Honolulu Police Department, and the Royal Hawaiian Band. At the consulate table, Consulate staff talked with students about Japan while demonstrating Japanese calligraphy and origami folding. The students were especially enthusiastic about the art of origami, and many paper cranes and paper airplanes were folded that day.
