Farewell Party for 2016 JET Participants
On July 29, a farewell party was held at the Consul General’s Official Residence for this year’s 39 JET Program participants from Hawaii. JET participants are dispatched to schools, BOEs, and local government offices across Japan as English teachers (ALTs) and coordinators for international relations (CIRs). Representatives from prefectural associations and senior JETs also attended, and the new participants were able to hear about the prefectures they were placed in and the experience of working in Japan. The JET program will celebrate its 30th anniversary this year. Since its inception, over 62,000 people have participated from 65 countries.
