Ehime Hawaii Goodwill Youth Baseball Exchange Orientation

On July 31, an orientation was held at the Consul General’s Official Residence for youth baseball players from Hawaii who will be participating in this year’s Ehime Hawaii Goodwill Youth Baseball Tournament. This exchange program was started to preserve the memory of the Uwajima Fishery High School training ship Ehime Maru, which was involved in an accident off of Hawaii in February 2001, and to promote further exchange between Japan and Hawaii. This year's baseball tournament will be held in Ehime in November and 42 young men will visit Japan from Hawaii. The orientation prepared the players for their trip, providing them with an explanation of manners and etiquette in Japan and the Japanese language and a presentation introducing Ehime and Uwajima. The players were very interested in hearing more information about their upcoming program.
