Hokkaido Delegation Welcome Reception
On October 21, a reception was held at the Official Residence of the Consul General to welcome the Hokkaido delegation of senior government officials such as Vice Governor Yoshihiro Yamaya and Mr. Ren Endo, Speaker of the Hokkaido Legislative Assembly, accompanied by members of the Hokkaido Assembly and a selection of business representatives.
From the Hawaii side, Vice Speaker John Mizuno attended together with other members of the Hawaii State Legislature. Members from the local business community and Hokkaido Club Hawaii also participated in the reception. Over 70 people were in attendance, and they all engaged in a lively discussion on establishing sister state relations and fostering economic ties between Hawaii and Hokkaido.
At the reception, Mr. Pali Ka’aihue, a musician, was appointed Hokkaido Smile Ambassador. An event to promote Hokkaido food and culture was also held at Shirokiya Village Walk at the Ala Moana Shopping Center on October 21-23.
