Rededication Ceremony of the Seiko Clock Tower Donated by Lions Clubs District 330-A (Tokyo)
On November 10, a ceremony was held in front of the State Government Kalanimoku Building at the Hawaii Capitol Historic District celebrating the rededication of the Seiko Clock Tower. The clock tower was donated by the District 330-A Tokyo Lions Clubs International 25 years ago to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Pearl Harbor and call for renewed commitment to peace. The clock had been broken for several years, but with the new parts donated by the Seiko Holdings Corporation, the clock was repaired by the State of Hawaii in time for the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor. Consul General and Mrs. Misawa; Governor and Mrs. Ige; representatives of Seiko Holdings; Rev. Robert Nakamura, the son of the President of the Pearl Harbor Lions Club at the time; Senator Nishihara, president of the Pearl City Lions Club to which the Pearl Harbor Lions Club was merged; Admiral Fargo, Chair of the Pearl Harbor 75th Anniversary Committee, and a few Japanese community members attended the ceremony to celebrate the rededication of the clock tower and to appreciate the preciousness of peace.
