Consulate Activities

2017/4/9

Kawaii Kon

On April 7-9, the Consulate General of Japan set up a booth at Kawaii Kon, Hawaii’s largest anime/manga convention, at the Hawaii Convention Center. The Consulate booth promoted tourism in Japan by distributing copies of the “Japan Anime Map,” a map produced by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) which shows locations in Japan that have been featured in popular anime and manga. Consulate staff also provided information on the JET Program, various Japanese government scholarships, and other opportunities that offer participants the chance to travel to Japan. The convention was very popular, and the hall was packed with all sorts of excited guests dressed as their favorite anime and pop culture characters.
