2017 Reception Celebrating the Emperor’s Birthday

On November 28, a reception was held at the Consul General’s official residence to celebrate the birthday of the Emperor of Japan.

On the day of the event, approximately 330 guests from a wide variety of local groups and associations were welcomed to the official residence. Honored guests included U.S. PACOM Adm. Harry Harris and Former Governor George Ariyoshi, and the reception proved to be a magnificent event.

This year’s reception featured related associations that specialized in airline, regional beverages, Japanese sweets, travel, and illumination (JAL, ANA, Kokusai Sake Kai, Ito En, Sanwa Shurui, Kirishima Shuzo, Usagiya, Nagato, Toshimaya, Toraya, HIS, JTB, Kintetsu International Hawaii Company, Illuminage Group) and 11 prefectural Kenjinkai groups booths that provided food, refreshments, and information on travel to Japan. The wide variety of attractions was very well received by those attending the reception.
