Recognition Award for Japanese Living Abroad
2017/5/23
September 15th is Respect-for-the-Aged Day, a day which honors the elderly. On this occasion, the Japanese Government will present elderly persons who have reached the age of 100 with a congratulatory message and a commemorative gift. Japanese nationals are to receive this recognition from the Prime Minister of Japan regardless of where they presently live. Japanese who have become naturalized U.S. citizens are to receive a congratulatory message from the Consul General of Japan in Honolulu. This recognition is presented once to every person who reaches the age of 100.
In order to facilitate the presentation of these honors, we are presently gathering information on those who were born by March 31, 1918 (the person’s name, birth date, telephone number and maiden name, if applicable).
