On Friday, February 1, 2019 at the Consul General’s official residence, Mr. Gary Kazuto Kajiwara was conferred the Imperial Decoration, The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, for his contributions to strengthening and promoting mutual understanding in the fields of medicine and healthcare between Japan and the United States as well as the advancement of the social status of Japanese Americans in the United States.  As the Chief Executive Officer and President of Kuakini Health System, Mr. Kajiwara promoted international joint research projects and also signed partnership agreements with several universities in Japan. In addition to that, he welcomed over 900 international training delegations and visited Japan many times to strengthen the relationship with Japanese medical organizations and medical firms.
