24th Annual Honolulu Festival

On March 8th, a reception was held at the Consul General’s Official Residence to celebrate the opening of the 24th Annual Honolulu Festival. Nearly 100 guests joined, including Governor David Ige, First Lady Dawn Ige and Mayor Kirk Caldwell. The reception featured a musical performance by Sakura Komachi Wagakudan, which was visiting from Japan to participate in the Honolulu Festival.
 
On March 9th to 11th the consulate and the Nisei Veteran Legacy held the Hawaii Nikkei Legacy Exhibit, a photographic exhibit covering the history and culture of Japanese Americans as part of the celebration for the 150 year anniversary of the arrival of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaii.
In addition, the consulate organized a Japanese movie screening in cooperation with the Honolulu Festival Foundation and the Japan Foundation.
