Yama Sakura 75 US-Japan Joint Exercise Friendship Reception
On June 25, 2018, the Japan Ground Self Defense Force (JGSDF) and the Consulate General of Japan in Honolulu co-hosted a friendship reception at Fort Shafter for the Yama Sakura 75 Concept Middle Planning Conference. In his opening remarks, Consul General Ito expressed his hope that the U.S and Japan will be able to further deepen their mutual understanding and cooperation through these exercises, as the U.S.-Japan Security Alliance will continue to be the cornerstone of peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
The Yama Sakura 75 is a joint exercise which aims to maintain and increase interoperability between the two nations. Participants include the JGSDF Northern Army, the Japan Ground Staff Office, the I Corps, the U.S. Army Pacific, and others.
