2018 Spring Imperial Decoration Conferment Ceremony for Mr. Kenneth H. DeHoff, Jr.

On Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the Consul General’s official residence, Mr. Kenneth H. DeHoff, Jr. was conferred the Imperial Decoration, The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, for his contributions to strengthening the mutual understanding between Japan and the US.  As the executive director of the Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor from 2007 to 2017, Mr. DeHoff worked to establish relationships with former Japanese navy pilots and other Japanese entities and individuals, and created exhibits that helped visitors clearly understand different types of aircrafts and their history.  His other achievements include organizing the annual “Blackened Canteen” ceremony at the USS Arizona where former Japanese Imperial Navy veterans and Pearl Harbor survivors were invited to attend; dedicating his efforts to various projects of goodwill and reconciliation between Japan and the U.S.; and holding annual youth symposiums at the Museum, with student participants from Nagaoka City and Honolulu, at which they were provided opportunities to learn and contemplate about peace together.
