Consulate Activities

On August 3, a farewell party was held at the Consul General’s Official Residence for this year’s 32 JET Program participants departing from Hawaii. JET participants are dispatched to schools, BOEs, and local government offices across Japan as English teachers (ALTs) and coordinators for international relations (CIRs). Representatives from prefectural associations and JET alumni also attended, and the new participants were able to hear about the prefectures they were placed in and the experience of working in Japan. The JET Programme has grown significantly over its 32 year history. Since its inception, over 68,000 people from 73 countries have participated in it.
