25th Annual Honolulu Festival
On March 7th, a reception was held at the Consul General Ito’s official residence to celebrate the 25th Annual Honolulu Festival. Nearly 100 guests joined, including Governor David Ige, First Lady Dawn Ige, and Mayor Kirk Caldwell. Honuppi, the mascot character that supports Hawaii, welcomed the guests, and a musical performance was given by Ms. Mika Otsuka who was visiting from Tochigi, Japan to participate in the Honolulu Festival. She sang songs that honored Japanese Americans and the relationship between Japan and Hawaii.
On March 9th and 10th the consulate organized a Japanese movie screening in cooperation with the Honolulu Festival Foundation and the Japan Foundation. In addition, the consulate sponsored a booth to introduce various aspects of Japan, which was very well received by many interested guests.
