JET Welcome Back Reception
A reception was held at the Official Residence on October 30 for thirteen JET Program participants who returned to Honolulu in 2019. Consul General Ito warmly welcomed them back and talked about how this program has been playing an important role in strengthening the relationship between Japan and Hawaii, and between Japan and United States.
Dr. Dina Yoshimi, Associate Professor at the University of Hawaii, gave a presentation, entitled “Opportunities in Hawaii’s Multilingual Workforce,” and encouraged the JET returnees by saying that their experiences in Japan definitely gives them an advantage with regards to their future careers.
As each of the JET participants gave presentations about their many adventures in Japan, they all expressed how they loved their experiences and how their lives were forever changed by participating in the program.
