Promoting Japan Hawaii's Largest Anime Convention, "Kawaii Kon”
The Consulate General of Japan in Honolulu participated in Kawaii Kon, Hawaii’s largest anime/manga convention, at the Hawaii Convention Center. The event featured many of the attendees dressed as their favorite anime and manga characters.
The consulate set up a booth where tourism materials such as Japan maps or travel brochures of various regions, were handed out to interested individuals. Visitors to the booth often asked questions about specific areas they would like to visit for sightseeing.
We also provided information on the Japan Exchange & Teaching (JET) Program and study abroad opportunities in Japan. There were four JET alumni, who joined us as staff members, and they shared their experiences about their time on JET with many curious visitors stopped by the booth.
