Welcome Reception for the Director-General of the National Institute of Japanese Literature

On Thursday, August 31, 2023, a welcome reception for Director-General Watanabe Yasuaki of the National Institute of Japanese Literature (NIJL) was held at the official residence of the Consul-General.
NIJL is conducting collaborative research with the University of Hawaii and the Honolulu Museum of Art on Japanese Literature. The University of Hawaii and the Honolulu Museum of Art have been contributing to the development and expansion of Japan related research in Hawaii.
In the reception’s opening address, Consul-General Aoki said, “The collaboration between the National Institute of Japanese Literature, the University of Hawaii at Mānoa and the Honolulu Museum of Art has promoted the cultural understanding and academic exchange between Japan and the United States. I look forward to the continued success of this collaboration."
