Presentation of a letter of appointment to Mr. Hidehito Uki, Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassador
On September 19, Consul General Aoki handed a letter of appointment to Mr. Hidehito Uki, CEO/President of Sun Noodle LLC.
The Japanese Cuisine Goodwill Ambassador is an appointed Japanese Culinary professional selected by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in Japan (MAFF) to promote the allures of Japanese cuisine and culture overseas, and determined by their ability to provide accurate advice on the spreading of Japanese food and dietary culture, based on their past results and activities.
Mr. Uki established Sun Noodle in Hawaii in 1981 and his noodle manufacturing company has been providing a wide variety of products to meet an array of needs. The company expanded its business not only in Hawaii but also the U.S. mainland, helping to spread Japanese ramen culture and support the ramen boom in the U.S.. The company plans to expand its business to Europe in the near future.
He also serves as a promotional ambassador for "Tsuyahime" rice produced in Yamagata Prefecture, and has spoken at seminars for companies looking to enter the Hawaii market and beyond. His continuing success is expected in the future.
