2023 Fall Imperial Decoration Conferment Ceremony for Mr. Brian T. Taniguchi

On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the Consul General’s Official Residence, the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette was conferred to Mr. Brian T. Taniguchi.
As a longtime member of the Hawaii State Legislature with over 40 years of service in Hawaii politics, Mr. Taniguchi has made significant contributions to the promotion of Japan-Hawaii and Japan-U.S. relations. In particular, Mr. Taniguchi has contributed to the promotion of sister exchange programs with Hiroshima and Yamaguchi prefectures, and has worked tirelessly to promote friendship and goodwill between Japan and Hawaii.
At the ceremony, Consul General Kodama delivered a congratulatory message and expressed his gratitude for Mr. Taniguchi’s long-standing contribution to promote friendship between Japan and Hawaii as well as Japan and The United States. In his speech, Mr. Taniguchi thanked those in attendance for their support, noting  that his experience staying in Hiroshima where his grandparents lived made him a strong believer in exchanges, especially student exchanges, which can have a big impact on life.
