2024 Fall Imperial Decoration Conferment Ceremony for Dr. Charles E. Morrison

On December 18, 2024, at the Consul General’s Official Residence, the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette was conferred upon Dr. Charles E. Morrison.
 
Dr. Charles E. Morrison, who served as a president of the East-West Center for 18 years, has made significant contributions toward establishing educational exchange programs with Okinawa and bolstering various exchange projects between Japan and the United States, contributing to the promotion of academic exchange and mutual understanding between the two countries.
 
At the ceremony, Consul General Kodama delivered a congratulatory message and expressed his respect for Dr. Morrison’s great contributions towards strengthening various exchange projects between Japan and the United States and promoting academic exchange and mutual understanding between the two countries. In his speech, Dr. Morrison explained the background of his involvement in Japan-US relations and thanked those in attendance for their support, noting that it was a great honor to receive the prestigious decoration.
