2025 Emperor’s Birthday Reception


On February 12, a reception was held at the Consul General’s official residence to celebrate the birthday of the Emperor of Japan.
On the day of the event, many honored guests were in attendance including Governor Josh Green and First Lady Jaime Green, U.S. INDOPACOM Deputy Commander LTG and Mrs. Joshua Rudd, Governor David Ige, and approximately 450 guests representing a wide variety of local groups and organizations.

This year, 10 prefectural Kenjinkai groups (Hokkaido Club Hawaii, Honolulu Fukushima Kenjin Kai, Hawaii Fukui Kenjin Kai, Nagano Kenjin Kai of Hawaii Honolulu Hiroshima Kenjin Kai, Honolulu Yamaguchi Kenjin Kai, Hawaii Ehime Kenjin Kai, Hawaii Fukuoka Kenjin Kai, Hawaii Miyazaki Kenjin Kai, Hawaii United Okinawa Association) participated and introduced guests to famous local products from their respective prefectures .
Japanese companies and organizations (All Nippon Airways (ANA), Doutor Coffee Hawaii, Fukusaya, Hawaii HIS Cooperation, HITACHI RAIL Honolulu, iichiko USA, Ito En Hawaii, Japan Airline (JAL), JTB USA, Kintetsu International Hawaii Company, Kokusai Sake Kai, Kubota Rice Industry (Hawaii), Nagato, Toraya, Toshimaya, Usagiya, UCC Hawaii) as well as Ms. Melody Higa, who was appointed as the Miss Visit Japan Tourism Envoy by the Japan Tourism Agency, assisted in promoting tourism and providing information about Japan and Japanese
In addition, amongst the various Japanese dishes on offer at the event was an assortment of sushi made with tuna and scallops from Japan to promote Japan’s seafood products.
