Ikebana Workshop

On Monday, April 15th, an Ikebana workshop took place at the official residence of the Consul General of Japan in Honolulu. The cultural event provided the diverse group of guests in attendance, including the wives of government officials and U.S. military commanders, an opportunity to learn about Ikebana culture. The first half of the event included demonstrations showing six different styles of Ikebana by two instructors of the Sogetsu school. The second half of the event had a trial session in which participants were given the opportunity to experience the basics of Ikebana. It was great to see the participants trying their hand at Ikebana with their own creativity. Participants commented that they not only learned about Ikebana, but also enjoyed creating their own Ikebana works, gaining a meaningful and fulfilling experience.
