On Thursday, August 21, 2025, twelve high school students from the Fukuoka Prefecture Girls' Basketball Friendship Delegation visited the Consulate. Deputy Consul General Haruta, a native of Fukuoka Prefecture, spoke about the longstanding ties and importance of the exchange between Hawaii and Fukuoka. The students then shared their goals and hopes for the visit.

During their stay, the delegation visited both Oahu and Hawaii Island, where they deepened international exchange through basketball by playing friendly matches with local schools, including McKinley High School—alma mater of the late U.S. Senator Daniel Inouye and former Governor George Ariyoshi, both of Fukuoka descent—as well as renowned institutions such as Kamehameha Schools and ʻIolani School.
