Visit by Elementary and Middle School Students from Sakai Town

On Thursday, August 25, 2025, a delegation from Sakai Town, Ibaraki Prefecture—a sister city of Honolulu—led by Mayor Masahiro Hashimoto, visited the Consulate along with 37 elementary and junior high school students. During the visit, Consul General Kodama gave a detailed presentation on Hawaii’s history, culture, and Consulate-General's work, deepening the participants’ understanding of Hawaii.
The Sakai Town students also visited several elementary and junior high schools in Honolulu and experienced cultural exchange through homestays with local students. This visit further strengthened educational ties between the two cities and provided a valuable opportunity for these young participants to broaden their international perspectives.
