FRIENDS OF JAPAN-HAWAII MARITIME SECTOR COOPERATION

The State of Hawaii and the Consulate General of Japan in Honolulu confirm the establishment of the Friends of Japan-Hawaii Maritime Sector Cooperation, as follows:
 

Objectives:

  • Facilitate business cooperation between the maritime sectors of Japan and Hawaii to explore possible business opportunities in maritime assets and services.
  • Encourage the enhancement of capacities in Hawaii’s maritime sector to support Japan-Hawaii business cooperation.
  • Strengthen the Japan-US Alliance for the peace, security and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific and beyond, with a focus upon Hawaii as the strategic hub of the region.

Co-coordinators:

  • Consul General of Japan in Honolulu
  • Director, Department of Transportation, State of Hawaii.

Members (non-exhaustive):
Representatives from the following entities and divisions (The Co-coordinators may invite further relevant entities and divisions, when appropriate.):

  • Department of Transportation, State of Hawaii.
  • Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism, State of Hawaii (Military and Community Relations Office).
  • Department of Land and Natural Resources, State of Hawaii.
  • Chamber of Commerce in Hawaii (Military Affairs Council).
  • Pacific Resource Partnership.
  • College of Engineering, University of Hawaii.
  • East-West Center.
  • Pacific International Center for High Technology Research.
  • J8 (Requirements and Resources), INDOPACOM.
  • Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY & IMF).

Events:
Relevant meetings and gatherings may be held, when appropriate, upon the initiative of the Co-coordinators.
