FRIENDS OF JAPAN-HAWAII MARITIME SECTOR COOPERATION

The State of Hawaii and the Consulate General of Japan in Honolulu confirm the establishment of the Friends of Japan-Hawaii Maritime Sector Cooperation, as follows:
Objectives:
- Facilitate business cooperation between the maritime sectors of Japan and Hawaii to explore possible business opportunities in maritime assets and services.
- Encourage the enhancement of capacities in Hawaii’s maritime sector to support Japan-Hawaii business cooperation.
- Strengthen the Japan-US Alliance for the peace, security and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific and beyond, with a focus upon Hawaii as the strategic hub of the region.
Co-coordinators:
- Consul General of Japan in Honolulu
- Director, Department of Transportation, State of Hawaii.
Members (non-exhaustive):
Representatives from the following entities and divisions (The Co-coordinators may invite further relevant entities and divisions, when appropriate.):
- Department of Transportation, State of Hawaii.
- Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism, State of Hawaii (Military and Community Relations Office).
- Department of Land and Natural Resources, State of Hawaii.
- Chamber of Commerce in Hawaii (Military Affairs Council).
- Pacific Resource Partnership.

- Pacific International Center for High Technology Research.

Events:
Relevant meetings and gatherings may be held, when appropriate, upon the initiative of the Co-coordinators.
