On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, representatives from Miyazaki Marine High School and Hawaii Miyazaki Kenjinkai visited the Consulate General and had discussion with Consul General Chotoku and Vice Consul Tabira (from Miyazaki).
The school's training ship, the Shinyo Maru, departed Miyazaki on January 9th. The ship sailed across the Pacific Ocean while conducting tuna longline fishing training operations and arrived at Honolulu on February 13th.
After arriving in Honolulu, the 34 high school students aboard disembarked, visited the Ehime Maru Memorial and participated in international exchange activities with Pearl City High School.
They departed Honolulu on the 17th and are scheduled to return to Miyazaki in approximately two weeks.

We hope that the training ship's port calls in Honolulu will continue to provide opportunities for international exchange for students from Japan and Hawaiʻi.
