Visit by Fukuoka Institute of Technology
On Thursday, March 12, 2026, Deputy Consul General Haruta (a native of Fukuoka Prefecture) received a visit from students of Fukuoka Institute of Technology and held a discussion with Vice Consul Tabira.
The university conducts an overseas training under its "Global Challenge Program," which is aimed at developing global talent, in collaboration with the College of Engineering at the University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa. Here in Hawaiʻi, the students engaged in a diverse array of programs, including international exchange with collaborative learning alongside UH students, peace studies through visits to the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl and the Pearl Harbor National Memorial, and history studies at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaiʻi. We explained the role of Japanese foreign missions, and through a Q&A session, discussed each student's new experiences here in Hawaiʻi and their future aspirations.
We sincerely hope that the learning gained here will serve as a foundation for them to become global leaders and succeed worldwide.
