Greetings from Consul General Yasushi Misawa on his Appointment
It is a great honor and pleasure for me to take my place as the new Consul General of Japan in Honolulu.
For those of us who grew up in Japan in the early 1960s, Hawaii has long been the ideal travel destination. I was born in Kyoto, and by the time I graduated from university I still had never once been on a plane. In the 30 years since I entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I have taken various positions in my diplomatic career and had the pleasure of visiting over 50 countries, but this is my first time in Hawaii. I look forward to living here, and, as Consul General, working together with you to strengthen the bond between Hawaii and Japan.
