150th Anniversary of the Arrival of the First Japanese Immigrants in Hawaii

2018 marks the 150th anniversary since the arrival of the first Japanese immigrants in Hawaii. Those 150 Japanese nationals arrived in Honolulu in first year of the Meiji era and are therefore called the Gannenmono (meaning “first-year folks”).
