Autumn 2016 Imperial Decoration

The Government of Japan has announced that Garrett Kazuhiro Serikawa, resident of Kailua, Hawaii, will be presented the Autumn 2016 Imperial Decoration (Order of the Rising Sun, Gold & Silver Rays) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to U.S.-Japan relations.
 
○ Garrett Kazuhiro Serikawa
   Mr. Serikawa was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on April 4th, 1932. He began his career as a CPA in a local accounting firm after graduating from the University of Hawaii, and from 1972 he has engaged in fostering economic exchange between Japan and the U.S. (Hawaii) as a board member of the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce (HJCC), serving as Chairman of the Board from 1996-1997. From 1995, he acted as Chairman of the JCCH, the Japanese Culture Center of Hawaii, during which he played a key role in preserving the history of the Japanese-American experience in Hawaii and providing a foundation of information for future generations.
   Mr. Serikawa was selected to receive the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold & Silver Rays, in recognition of his contributions to promoting friendly relations and mutual understanding between Japan and the U.S. (Hawaii).
