Notice of Donations being Accepted for the Kumamoto Prefecture Earthquake (6/29 Update)

Thank you for the concern expressed following the Kumamoto Prefecture Earthquake.
The following entities will be accepting donations for victims of the earthquake:
Consulate General of Japan in Honolulu, Gienkin (Relief Donation), Account Information:
a) The Consulate General of Japan in Honolulu does not, in principle, issue a receipt for donations. However, if you wish to obtain a receipt, please send an email to 2016kumamoto.jishin@hl.mofa.go.jp requesting a receipt and state the following:
b) Relief donations may be made in cash or by check. If paying with a check, please make it payable to “Consulate General of Japan” and mail it to the consulate.
c) After relief money is received by the Consulate General of Japan in Honolulu and sent to the account of the Government of Japan or to the Japanese Red Cross Society, the money will be delivered to the affected people through local government.
*Monies will be accepted in this account until March 31, 2017.
Japanese Red Cross Society Overseas Relief Fund, Kyuenkin (Donation for Japanese Red Cross Society activities):
* Donations to this account have been closed as of June 15, 2016.
Relief Money Acceptance Accounts by Local Governments of the Affected Areas:
The local governments of the affected areas have also opened accounts to accept donations. Please check each local government’s website for more information. If you wish to find information on the account opened by Kumamoto Prefecture, one of the most severely affected areas, please check the following website.
