The Consulate General of Japan in Honolulu is pleased to announce the release of our newest YouTube video: “Japan Food Journey, Episode 2: Food as a Bridge”.
Our video series, called "Japan Food Journey", was first launched in March, 2021. In our second episode, “Food as a Bridge,” we are presenting the highlights of the food tasting event, where we welcomed three Hawaii-based food influencers, Ms. Melissa Chang, Ms. Olena Heu and Mr. Sean Morris. Chef Yuta Makino, the Resident Chef of the Consulate General of Japan in Honolulu, showcased a five-course degustation menu featuring essential Japanese ingredients from three local companies, Aloha Tofu Factory, Islander Sake Brewery and Sun Noodle.
Hawaii has a distinctively diverse food culture and Japanese cuisine is very popular. We have taken this idea and forged it with Chef Makino's specialty in Japanese fusion to discover new flavors and bring a new appeal of Japanese cuisine to the people of Hawaii. We also aim to support local companies through this project under the ongoing economic impact of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Join us on this culinary journey and let’s discover Chef Makino’s creations using seasonal and local quality ingredients, which resonates with its Japanese roots! Please also check reviews by food influencers on this experience!
