2025 MEXT Research Student Scholarship
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan offers scholarships to international students who wish to study in graduate courses at Japanese universities as Research Students (either as degree seeking or non-degree seeking) under the MEXT Scholarship Program.
We are currently accepting applications for the 2025 MEXT Research Student Scholarship.

Please note that successful candidates who pass the document screening are required to take the written exams on the morning of Friday, June 14, 2024, at the University of Hawaii, Moore Hall, Room 319. Only those who pass the written exams will be eligible to sit for an interview on the same afternoon.

- Download and complete the Application Forms for the Research Student Scholarship.
- Number each document as instructed in the Application Guidelines.
- Mail or hand-deliver your application packet no later than 4:00 pm on Friday, May 24, 2024 to the University of Hawaii’s Center for Japanese Studies, Moore Hall 216.
- Notify the consulate at the email address below if you plan to mail in your application packet. Be sure to keep your postal tracking number.
