Temporary Visitor Visa
A Temporary Visitor Visa is for those who intend to stay in Japan for 90 days or less for such purposes as follows:
Sightseeing; sports; visiting relatives, friends, or acquaintances; visiting a sick person; attending a wedding or funeral ceremony; participating in athletic tournaments; contests etc. as an amateur; business purposes (such as market research, business liaison, business consultation, signing a contract, or providing after-sale service for imported machinery); inspecting or visiting plants, trade fairs etc.; attending lectures, explanatory meetings etc.; academic surveys or research presentations; religious pilgrimages or visits; friendship visits to sister cities, sister schools etc.; or other similar activities during a short period of stay in Japan.
Persons planning to travel to Japan for a different purpose, such as students, workers, journalists, entertainers, attorneys (taking depositions), etc., must apply for a different visa in the appropriate category.
For passport holders of countries requiring visa, the following documents and information are required to apply for this type of visa. Applicants from those who entered U.S. with B1/B2 visa or who are under U.S. visa exemption status will not be accepted in this office. Please note that the temporary visitor visa excludes profit-making operations and paid activities.

List of Basic Documentation for Temporary Visitors
1. | Valid Passport (properly signed by bearer, with at least 2 blank visa pages) *If you submit a PERMIT TO RE-ENTER THE UNITED STATES or a REFUGEE TRAVEL DOCUMENT issued by the U.S. government, it must have a validity date at least six months beyond the date of the visa application. |

2. | Visa application form, completely filled out and signed by the applicant *You may download a PDF application form below. QR code / without QR code for handwriting ( Sample ) |

3. | One passport-sized photo (2”×2”, taken within six months) *Attached to the application form using GLUE ONLY, please do not staple or tape. |

4. | ・Round-trip tickets with confirmed reservations or ・Flight itinerary (issued by airline company or travel agency, original only) If using airline-provided stand-by tickets: ・Employment verification letter from the airline company, explicitly authorizing the applicant to use the ticket and ・Official reservation form or flight itinerary |

5. | Registered alien card (Green Card) or US visa with I-20 and I-94 for non-US citizen If you will be entering a third country after leaving Japan, you must show a valid visa to enter that country (or a national passport of that country). ø Please note that in principle we do not accept applications from B-1 and B-2 U.S. visa status holders. |
For Business
6. | Original letter from applicant’s company signed by an authorized executive officer, on company letterhead, stating: a) applicant’s position in the company, duration of employment, and annual salary b) nature/purpose of visit in detail c) dates/duration of stay intended and information accommodation information d) contact person, company name, address and phone number of business contact in Japan |

7. | Expenses If self-financed trip: ・Tax return and ・Bank statement If the company is covering the cost: ・Letter of guarantee from company ・Certified copy of incorporation register or an overview of Company / Organization |
For Visiting Friends or Relatives
6. | ・Letter of invitation from friend or relative in Japan ・Letter from friend or photo taken with a friend and copy of friend’s passport or ・Verification document of relationship between your relatives and copy of relative’s passport |

7. | Expenses If self financed trip: ・Tax return and ・Bank statement If the guarantor is covering the cost: ・Letter of guarantee from guarantor in Japan and ・Guarantor’s tax return and Bank statement and ・Certificate of residence (Ju-Min-Hyo). (Note) When the guarantor is a foreign national, submit a photocopy of the both sides of the valid Residence card (the Alien Registration), a Certificate of residence without omission of matters listed, and a photocopy of his/her passport. |
